About this deal

It’s probably not going to be best if you’re a low digit handicap but for everyone else, I’d give it a big thumbs up. If you want a more detailed review or you want to see what our favorite golf balls are, continue reading. The latest Noodle golf balls are aimed at the average golfer with a swing speed of between 70 and 95 MPH. The Noodle golf ball stands out for its exceptional forgiveness, a particularly beneficial trait for beginners and high-handicap golfers. In the context of golf, forgiveness refers to a ball’s ability to minimize the effect of bad swings and off-center hits, keeping the ball reasonably straight and far.

Callaway Supersoft golf ball is the softest golf ball designed and manufactured by Callaway to date. Let’s start with the good news. None of the balls in our Noodle Long and Soft sample failed our roundness standard. It’s also notable that the Long and Soft is among the smallest ionomer balls in the database. That’s not particularly surprising, given that TaylorMade typically makes a smaller golf ball. The chart above shows some of the key metrics we measure with our gauges. As you can see, the first couple of dozens (blue and orange dots, respectively) are relatively consistent. You won’t mistake them for the best balls in the database but they’re not bad. The third dozen (red) is, on average, softer, heavier and bigger (the two Xs are the balls that exceed the USGA weight limit). With ball measurements, we’re always dealing with relatively small numbers but I think it’s reasonable to say that box No. 3 stands out as being different from the other two. Weight Consistency Noodle golf balls are sure to last a long time if you don’t lose them since they are aimed at high handicapped golfers. The MaxFli TaylorMade Noodle Long and Soft is one of the most requested balls for Ball Lab. You’re all weird … a good number of you anyway. I get it. The Noodle is an affordable product with a fun name. It’s one of few beloved products where, even if deep down we know it’s not one of the best balls on the market, we don’t care. Spin Control: While the balls offer excellent distance and durability, some golfers may not offer as much spin control as preferred, particularly in the short game.

I developed a love-hate relationship with the 342 aerodynamic dimples because they enhanced my launch but struggled mid-flight. It appears its weight distribution was inconsistent on some balls, causing certain shots to veer off-path without warning. Sure you can blow your budget and feel all fancy buying ProV1s or something similar, but honestly? For 12+ handicaps, these are going to get you 90% of the way there. Wintertime gets pretty wet here and since these balls are much cheaper I’ll just use them. I need to keep the ball in the fairway because I’ll never find it in the rough (it’ll get buried).

Another advantageous attribute of Noodle golf balls is their reduced spin. This is particularly beneficial for golfers who struggle with hooks and slices, as excess spin can exaggerate these tendencies. With their energy-loaded core and aerodynamic dimple design, the two-piece construction of Noodle golf balls works hand-in-hand to control the spin, helping maintain a straighter trajectory and offering better accuracy.

While slow to moderate swing speed players likely won’t notice the difference, mid to faster swing speed players risk over-compressing the ball and losing distance. As far as feel is concerned, it’s reasonable to predict most will find it softer than Tour balls like the Titleist Pro V1 or even the Bridgestone Tour B XS. However, relative to other two-piece ionomer balls, it’s solidly mid-compression. Noodle Long and Soft – Diameter and Weight While marketed as low compression, they aren’t the softest feeling balls you will encounter. That Iothane cover only goes so far… I was surprised at how ‘hard’ they felt trying all three of the different Noodle golf balls. The current range features the Noodle’ Long and Soft’, the Noodle’ Neon’, and the Noodle ‘Easy Distance’.Its 2-piece construction wraps the reactive gradient growth core with a compression rating of 60 in an ionomer cover containing 338 dimples to produce the speed needed for the longer ball flight. The thin ionomer cover offers sufficient spin and control around the greens to satisfy the average golfer. I wasn’t a fan of the consistently elevated ball flight produced by the Noodles because it cost me a few yards. I prefer a medium launch, which is more controlled and delivers extra roll upon landing. Despite my views, the higher ball flight is a gift to slow-swing speed golfers who struggle to get the ball airborne and produce suitable carry distance. The Noodle Neon golf balls have a slightly higher compression ratio of 62. As a result, you might not get the same distance for a given swing speed. Even with a higher compression rating, they still feel relatively soft.
