A lovely lunch - food was delicious, service excellent. Wine is very overpriced, but the Cloched Hat are hardly alone in massively marking up wine: it seems absurd to me when a inexpensive bottle of Chilean merlot (at least if you bought it online), accounts for nearly half the bill. Simplicity is an acquired taste but minimalism is an acquired lifestyle for lovers of life. A cloche plate presented in a minimal color palette is a gratifying build up to a vibrant meal with an extravagant surprise of techniques garnishes and plating.
The tasting menu and accompanying wine flight was excellent with only the sweet being slightly out of place. It got dry one side after a night, then the next morning I flipped to another side to dry it but it is not possible as the you can never flip it completely to the right shape to let air to dry it, It curls around after flipping over. After another night drying the part of the another side, you need to towel dry the rest. For the staff you have replied my previous review, try it yourself and you know what I mean.They kindly held our table despite being very late and stayed open late to let us finish our meal. Food was excellent, especially dessert and the service attentive and fun. Great place. Toasty warm thanks to a heater in the middle of the room. Excellent quality of food, service and everyone was so accommodating to make our anniversary evening so special. Secondly, it mentions the diameter is 25cm and 18cm but it doesn't mean that it can fit a diameter of a container with either 25cm or 18cm as the part silicone to cling on is the part which curled inside. That diameter has no information mentioned in the description. And every bowl has a different curves, that means it is not necessary to fit into a bowl with 25cm diameter. The store I bought it didn't have the sample out otherwise I would have tried on the IKEA bowls that I have. The cube cloche has a sense of continuity and fluidity when laid against the footed glass trays. The service was generally good and the staff are young, polite, keen and learning and sometimes it shows. The seating area by the bar (before going to the table) is not well thought out with an odd layout, uncomfortable chairs and rather hit and miss service. Food (we took the 5 course tasting): overall fairly tasty. Salmon was great, rabbit terrine not amazing, burrata ok (very different portion sizes), I strongly believe the sole was frozen and the dessert... was ok. I think the chef has some great ideas/combinations, he must be restricted by the owner in terms of cost?
