The clash of cymbals is clear, and although the presentation would benefit from some refinement through the treble here, we can of course alter the levels ourselves to make the shortcoming a little less obvious. There’s a choice of connections for your existing system. For compatible Bluetooth speakers and mini systems, use the supplied 3.5 – 3.5mm cable. For hi-fi amps and receivers, there’s a 3.5mm – 2 phono cable also supplied. If you are using an AV receiver or amp with an optical digital input, then the optical input will provide the highest quality input (optical cable not supplied). Circling by Four Tet is a stern test of timing and dynamics, and the AIO Twin handles the song with a playful, agile touch that goes hand-in-hand with an admirable level of control, precision and subtlety. It organises the complicated strands of instruments and noises with a confidence that seems easy – that’s quite the skill. With excellent tonal balance across the entire frequency range, this speaker is dynamic and energetic. There’s lots of power behind the low end yet that doesn’t overwhelm the treble too much, which still manages to push through with a crisp edge, while the mids are portrayed with plenty of personality, although there could be slightly more emphasis there.

The stereo effect is clearer on Wi-Fi too, there’s a much better sense of scale and size to its sound, helped by the speaker’s Wi-Fi performance being louder than the Bluetooth from the get-go. It’s a sound that could easily fill a medium-sized room. Placing it against a wall can help beef up and load the low frequencies with more power too. After my issue with the first speaker, I had no such problems with the second speaker or the AIO‌ C streamer. By the way, Triangle gives you on-screen directions in the app, a user manual, and voice prompts during setup, so they try to make it as easy as possible. Sound Quality Triangle is a French brand renowned for making exciting, energetic-sounding hi-fi speakers. With the AIO3 it looks to achieve the same for its range of wireless speakers. But alongside that dose of fun, there is a mature sense of composure running through its veins that is really impressive.

Given their size, you might be tempted to have the AIO Twin as just desktop speakers, but this system is so talented and capable that it deserves to be placed on dedicated stands. Through the app, you can set up a multiroom system with other Triangle speakers but there’s no way of doing it through Google Home or Apple Home. What that means is that you can’t mix and match devices, you’ll need to buy a few of these or some of Triangle’s other Wi-Fi speakers to make use of multiroom. That also means you won’t be able to control this by voice using a separate smart speaker. After you put several AIO devices (up to 5 using Wi-Fi)‌ in the app, then you can play different sources to each one, or the same source to all of them. You can also have two speakers in the same room and separate the left and right channels between them to make a stereo pair.
