About this deal

You can microwave foods in glass containers; there are no worries about chemicals leaking into the food with glass containers when microwaving. Also, I’ve noticed that glass heats food evenly and in less time. Bonus! For most lunches and dinners I like to use a 30-ounce (roughly 3 cups) container," says Koren. "This size holds plenty of food for one portion and is easy to carry around." Remember not to remove the skin if possible (if edible), as it contains most nutrients and antioxidants. And to chew it instead of juicing it. Glass containers are a sturdy, low-maintenance option that are dishwasher- and microwave-safe and typically also freezer and oven-safe. Another major selling point is that glass is nonporous, meaning there’s no space to trap odor and bacteria. Glass is also free of potentially harmful chemicals. On the flip side, glass containers are much heavier, fragile, and can be more costly.

Untreated Glass: This is common and used for jars, bottles, and cups. It’s fine for fridge or room temperature storage but not ideal for freezing or heating. The quality of the materials: We recorded any stains and odors from foods like curry or tomato sauce and how effectively we were able to remove them. Likewise, we asked ourselves if we'd be comfortable traveling or commuting with the containers based on their weight and size. We also recorded any chips in the glass or damage from the microwave, dishwasher, or oven. Capacity: Glass containers come in various sizes, from large for dishes like lasagna to small for things like baby food. If you’re getting a set for leftovers, choose one with different sizes. For dry goods, think about how long you store them. Spices and some flours don’t last long, so adjust the container size based on what you’re storing. Just try it for a week, and you will see a significant change in your health and wallet! More Meal Prep Recipes

We love these containers, though we do wish the lids were as well constructed as our Snapware glass containers. That being said we've owned them for nearly 3 years and have put them through the dishwasher dozens of times and they are still working.

Prep a hearty, loaded salad in the Bentgo Salad BPA-Free Lunch Container. The 54-ounce bowl fits four cups of lettuce or veggies, topped by the upper compartmentalized tray that keeps three separate toppings fresh and crisp until mealtime. The upper lidded tray features one 10-ounce compartment and two 5-ounce compartments, along with a 3-ounce dressing container. First, we conducted a leak test by filling a container with water and sealing it with the included lid. After sealing the lid, we vigorously shook the container for a minute to see if any liquid escaped. Watch the video below to see my favorite glass containers for meal prep. It takes up less drawer space than a thin dishtowel and can replace bulky meal prep containers, as well as pots and pans. You can use standard dairy milk if you prefer, but plant-based milk works best for me. It’s easier to digest and has less saturated fats. Convenience and time management are two more key factors to meal prepping. Your to-buy list will become much more simple when you know exactly what you’ll be eating and when, plus having a supply of standby meals in the fridge or freezer is a lifesaver during busy weeks when you just don’t fancy cooking. It’ll also save you a ton of money; meal prepping is V budget friendly as you buy ingredients in bulk, which is often cheaper, and you’re using your oven or microwave less!
