I have found this book to be interesting but not necessarily the most helpful to figure out certain methods.

Easily understood for someone who didn't like maths at school and has to now teach it (and it's my favourite subject to teach! There are also simple exercises you can complete yourself to test your knowledge after reading each section. Throughout this book, there is a clear sense of the importance of preserving children’s understanding of mathematics rather than resorting to ‘tricks and recipes’.

The activities in this photocopiable book gives Key Stage 2 pupils all the tools they need to gain fluency in multiplication and division up to their 12 times tables. As a student teacher this book greatly helped me as I was not very confident with maths myself and aided me to be able to feel confident teaching methods to the children. Haylock and Manning's latest edition of this publication is still not improved enough in the numeracy section for me to recommend this to students.
