About this deal

That’s a big reason why the genre has proven so versatile: audiences are already familiar with the basic conceit, and that fact frees filmmakers to spend more time working it into different contexts.

Fans of the film should easily lean toward this upgrade for the most definitive version of the movie to date. And the werewolves are beautifully realised: unstoppable behemoths, ripping and tearing bodies apart.Telling the story of a bunch of squaddies in an excellently captured pitch battle against unstoppable werewolves, the film is tight, scary, gory, and funny; both natural and super-natural, it is a perfect blend, eminently quotable and fully realised. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Interestingly the character of Spoon wasn’t originally named that way as a setup for the reference to The Matrix; that was a brainstorm that Marshall had later on during the production.

It’s filled with blood, gore, gallows humour and a plethora of nods, winks and references to other films ranging from Aliens to The Matrix. You’ve got the always welcome deleted scenes and gag reel, which is obviously grainy for the time it was shot, plus more insight from Special Effects artist Bob Keen, as well as a deeper look at the Cabin/Cottage in the Woods, and the creation of that, with Production Designer Simon Bowles. We get a couple of pieces on Werewolf horror, and they are interested; sadly, Mikel J Koven’s wasn’t filmed in person and as such loses a bit in it, which is a shame, though you are never bored as you go through each. Liam Cunningham's pure evil Ryan character was right out of a comic book, but that was part of the fun - you can tell he had a blast playing that role. There are no less than three different audio commentaries on offer: one with Neil Marshall, another with the producers David E.Originally released in 2002, Neil Marshall’s Dog Soldiers was an immediate favourite upon release because it felt unique and surprising in the thriller/horror genre. It doesn't actually sound like they're just rhyming off words from a script and it adds some authenticity to the group.
