About this deal
I LOVE A FOUND FAMILY and this definitely had a lot of found family vibes ๐ One Kazi's side, I completely adored her relationship with Synovรฉ and Wren - you could tell they were best friends. And Jase's entire family was so amazing too! I loved seeing the groups form relationships and come together
I haven't loved a fantasy romance in a while! Dance of Thieves definitely gives me Gondor (LoTR) vibes throughout. There are fierce families and a tight-knit kingdom of people surviving in a world of fantasy creatures - but also somewhat medieval vibes? This whole book was just incredibly well done. Sooo I didn't really like The Remnant Chronicles by this same author, but everyone seems to have loved this spin-off series so I decided to give it a try. Thank god I did because this first book was really amazing! p.6 โข "๐๐ต ๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ฆ๐ด๐ฏโ๐ต ๐ข๐ญ๐ธ๐ข๐บ๐ด ๐ต๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ ๐ข๐ฏ ๐ข๐ณ๐ฎ๐บ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ด๐ข๐ท๐ฆ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ธ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ญ๐ฅ. Another thing I loved beyond the people and the world-building is the way the storyline unfolded. It felt like I could see secrets being discovered around every dark passageway throughout Tor's Watch. The ghosts, they never go away. They call to you in unexpected moments, their hands lacing with yours and pulling you down paths that lead nowhere. This way. I had learned to mostly shut them out.
Dance of Thieves Series Order
Jase and Kazi were really great in this book. There's a lot of character development which I adored.
And of course, Jase and Kazi. I love them so much! They are one of my all-time favorite couples, everything they go through and what they have to overcome is so layered and earned. They feel like true equals which is so rare.Jase is the new leader of the Ballenger empire. They have always governed by their own rules as outlaws. Kazi and Jase will have to work together if they want to stay clear from the slave laborers and get to the next town which is some hundreds of miles away. So they walk barefoot and chained a great distance.
This is a book I will read over and over again forever bc Kazi of Brightmist is imprinted in my heart. Every once and while a character comes along that you know you will carry with you forever and Kazi is one of those characters. Her story particularly is so heartbreaking and triumphant at the same time, and I will always remember her journey. ๐๐๐๐ Kazi โ A member of the Queenโs elite guard, sent on a mission to retrieve a stolen artifact from the notorious Ballenger family. We get both Kazi and Jaseโs points of view in this one, thereโs no guessing games this time around, sadly. Lol. I really enjoyed getting both their views for you saw how they truly cared for one another despite what they might actually say to each other and you were better able to understand what was driving them to complete their goals. Natiya led us deeper into the valley, unafraid. Our gazes scanned the rugged cliffs and the crumbling devastation of a war that was slowly being consumed by earth, time, and memory, like the awkward swallowing of a fat hare by a patient snake. Soon, all the destruction would be in the belly of the earth. Who would remember? Who will write our story, Jase?' 'We will, Kazi. You and I will write our own story.' And side by side, every day, that is what we do.โPower and corruption โThe story explores the themes of power and corruption via corrupt rulers and bureaucrats who abuse their positions for personal gain. Once again, this book was amazing. Did not dissapoint. Coming off of rereading The Remnant Chronicles, all the characters at the end meant so much more to me than they did the first read, and I just love them all so much.
