Why we love Tara's Table @ Spike Island Café: Tara’s Table is run by the wonderful, award-winning Tara Clist, a chef who cut her culinary teeth with eight years of experience in restaurants and kitchens as diverse as River Café, London, and Babington House, Somerset. Tara then took the plunge, setting up her own business as a private chef and event caterer in 2010.
Luckily for us mere mortals, Tara also regularly runs fantastic pop-up restaurants in Spike Island Café, meaning that we too can enjoy her delicious, colourful cooking. The food has a clear Mediterranean influence, with inspiration also drawn from the flavours of Morocco and the Middle East. Tara places great importance on seasonality and the provenance of her ingredients: fish is sustainably sourced, all eggs are free range, and fresh produce is always in season, with Tara's Table even growing some of their own herbs and vegetables. This isn't just a moral stance with Tara, however - the resulting dishes are gloriously fresh, vibrant, and full of life and energy.
